Our extensive range of finishes has been carefully developed and perfected over time to deliver exceptional strength and lasting durability. Every product is handcrafted with premium finishes designed to endure for a lifetime when given proper care.
Our products provide outstanding anti-corrosive protection and, with proper maintenance, are built to last a lifetime. To assist you in maintaining the appearance of your selected finish, we’ve developed a detailed care guide tailored for each finish option.
We advise against using our ironmongery outdoors in coastal regions, as high levels of atmospheric salt can cause rust or tarnish on most finishes. Only our stainless steel finishes are recommended for these environments.
Be sure that newly plastered or painted rooms are fully cured before installing ironmongery, as moisture can lead to tarnishing or rusting of certain finishes.
For decorating, we recommend removing ironmongery before painting, staining, or plastering, and reinstalling once the area has completely dried. Please avoid using chemical cleaners, such as oxalic acid or aerosol sprays, as they can permanently damage the finish.

The fixings included with our products are handcrafted from mild stainless steel. Due to their handmade nature, a bit of extra care is advised during installation.
We recommend drilling a pilot hole for all fixings, especially when working with hard woods. Rubbing screws with candlewax before installation can make the process smoother. Handle our screws carefully, as many of our products come with traditional slotted screws.
In addition to drilling a pilot hole, we advise using a well-fitting screwdriver. Avoid using impact drivers or power drills, as these may damage the hand-made fixings.
Replacement screws are available in packs of 25 in case any are lost or damaged. You can find more options, including raised-head and countersunk stainless steel screws, in our ‘Accessories’ section.

To ensure the finish on your beeswax product always remains at its best, we would advise re-coating your product with our ‘Maintenance Wax’ (33002) from time to time. This adds further protection to the metal and helps to prevent any rust or white blooms forming. Due to temperature changes or packaging, a Beeswax product may occasionally show signs of a white bloom upon opening. This can be buffed with a soft cloth to remove.
Please note that where possible we would recommend using our External Beeswax in areas of your property with high moisture content, such as bathrooms or kitchens. Light surface rust may appear if using our standard beeswax in damp internal environments, but this can be removed with ease with 00 grade wire wool and a reapplication of our ‘Maintenance Wax’ (33002). For accompanying external products, we recommend using our External Beeswax finish.
Although this finish already offers a very strong barrier against environmental conditions, we recommend re-applying a small amount of our Maintenance Wax (33002) periodically with a cloth or brush which provides additional protection to the surface of your product and further protects this from any harmful external elements.
Regular oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of products. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation. For accompanying internal products, we recommend our beeswax finish.
We recommend avoiding the use of any chemicals or cleaning products on this finish. An oily cloth can be used to wipe over the product from time to time to remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surface of the product, this will aid protection against any environmental elements.

As our Polished Brass is unlacquered, it will naturally age through oxidisation, giving the product added character. However, if desired this finish can be maintained to a bright ‘polished’ finish with periodic polishing. To achieve this, please use a dry cloth or alternatively our ‘Brasso’ (73102) can be used to assist with the cleaning of solid brass products.

An oily cloth can also be used to wipe over the product from time to time to aid protection against exterior or environmental elements.
This finish will continue to oxidise and age as it is an unlacquered finish, meaning the finish will darken over time. If the product becomes tarnished or too dark, it can be polished on all surface areas to enhance the finish. To restore and brighten the finish, we recommend polishing with a dry cloth or alternatively using our ‘Brasso’ (73102), which assists with the cleaning of solid brass products.

We advise against using harsh chemicals or cleaning products on Satin Brass as they may affect the lacquer. Satin Brass products should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth and wiped over with a wax-based furniture polish like our Maintenance Wax (33002).

Please avoid using ‘Brasso’ (73102) or any other cleaning products on this finish, as this may affect the lacquer. Once the bronze begins to darken and tarnish, a dry cloth or beeswax based furniture polish can be used on the affected area to restore the shine and offer some protection. This would ideally be beeswax (but products like “Pledge” and “Mr Sheen” work well too) and will help to remove dirt, fingerprints and watermarks. Also, regular cleaning with the aforementioned furniture polishes will help preserve and maintain the lacquer.

This finish is designed to be maintenance free and offers exceptional protection against corrosion. Surpassing 1000+ hours salt testing, it is a perfect choice for use in salt rich or heavily polluted environments. Despite the natural durability of this finish, we would still recommend washing your product using a soft, clean cloth and mild soapy water from time-to-time to reduce unnecessary pollutants building up on the products surface. Please ensure all products are dried immediately with a clean, soft cloth after any cleaning.
To increase the mechanical life expectancy of your product, we recommend oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) periodically and during initial installation.
